Acrylic on 300gsm cold press paper, 950mm x 1270mm
There’s no deep meaning behind this particular piece, but it remains a firm favourite, possibly because the proportions of the parts really makes it seem 100% intentional. Like nature, there is so much beauty, balance and innocent delight in this work, I could look at it for hours and be reminded how important it to preserve the natural world for its own sake, and for ours.
LEFSON: 'This was a very random collection of colours and shapes that changed completely in the last two strokes. An interesting green curve on the far right of the canvas caught my eye, and when I decided to balance it with a dash of bright red on the left by moving the pot to the far left, bingo. One stroke and a dashing dot in just the right place at just the right time transformed this artwork into a delightful bird-like being. From messy to masterpiece in the blink of an eye.'
