Acrylic on 300gsm cold press paper, 1100mm x 930mm
We have so much to say about pressing issues. We point fingers. We talk a lot. But when it comes to the most critical – climate change and animal welfare, for example –we directly continue to support and endorse industries that exacerbate these problems by purchasing their products. Isn’t it all a little bizarre?
LEFSON: 'This remains a favourite painting because the colourful ‘brains’ and the long tongue echo Carl Jung’s words: ‘You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do’. When the pig painted the initial black lines, I saw a bird evolving. As the colours became more explosive, I lost the intended composition but when I turned the canvas sideways, the bird disappeared and the painting stuck it’s tongue out atme. A face, complete with a perfect blue eyeball.'
